Description: A fairly large County called Reno that is located in Nevada is not only the most dangerous but also the most criminal. While they are coping with this there's a bioterrorist attack, the convention hall is sealed off, and there are no cops in the whole Miami area except the idiots from Reno. Weigel, Dangle and Jones try to get a weasel out of a wall. After seeing Deputy Raineesha Williams in a thong bathing suit I needed a Pepto-Bismol. Inmate Terry the Taco Guy causes problems again.
The good guys don't always come out smelling like a rose; and the bad guys don't always get their comeuppance - and that alone is a turn-off to devotees of conventional comedy: they don't get the point of a show that touches the funny-bone but not the sensibility. Impressively, the film veers into cliché territory on numerousoccasions but never delivers the expected punchline. All the usual interpersonal relationships are on display, but I had hoped they might be explored a bit more in the movie. Otherwise find some other movie to spend your time with. When they all come back after their suspension, Junior, Johnson and Dangle go on a sex slave sting and Junior ends up getting married to an Asian woman who doesn't speak a word of English. With every cop in Miami out sick, it is up to the intrepid Nevada cops to serve and protect the unfortunate populace.
It's a bunch of good jokes strung together and pasted upon a screen. It isn't thought provoking or anything else tothat extent. Curious to know what the movie's about? Anyone who's ever watched the show knows it's not your typical sit-com. But few of them have any idea what's really going on in Reno County. If you can watch is for free and have absolutely nothing else to do with your time, take a look.
In a word, it's not about Who they are but What they do. The actors knowtheir characters so well that their improvisations keep the audienceand their costars on their toes at all times. Deputies Garcia and Jones are caught on tape, looking like they were beating an Innocent man, so District Attorney Mike Powers is investigating the Reno Sheriff's department by interviewing each Deputy one by one including Sheriff Chechekevitch. Jim Dangle, the short shorts-wearing, flamboyantly gay supervisor; Deputy James Garcia, who makes police brutality an art form; Deputy Trudy Wiegel, the manic depressive, socially awkward officer; Deputy Clementine Johnson, the skanky former magician's assistant; Deputy Travis Junior, the redneck who is never seen without his kevlar vest and sunglasses; Deputy S. A solid show, which I felt always delivered. Overall this flickisn't an amazing comedy. There are good moments, such as a Tony Montana-type drug lord, an alligator in a swimming pool, and so on.
These are not characters who grow, or learn from their experiences. Their reservations get messed up and they can't get into the convention center on day one. They're essentially as one-dimensional as characters can be; so you pretty much know how they'll react to each new problem they encounter. Again, just like the show. So when they actually save the day - by sheer chance, of course - they become what you might call Poster Children for Chaos Theory. However, that's not what makes Reno 911 funny a complexplot might even be distracting. In fact, perhaps I should startwatching the series. And the scene with Dangle and Junior at the rapper's birthday party.
At no point was I wishing the scene would move on to something better. And if there's one task Lt Dangle and his deputies are up to, it's creating chaos wherever they go. Once I couldn't get it to play, I came back here and read the fine print. Perhaps I should start expecting more from this creative team, sincethey're capable of sustaining my interest and my amusement over thecourse of a full-length feature. There's rarely a nice, neat little plot that resolves itself by show's end. Yearning to watch '' in the comfort of your own home? Who has heard of this before when buying movies on disc? Among the colorful characters are Lt. Does it make their work more efficient? Paul Rudd makes an appearance in it, so it seemed hopeful but even he couldn't save it.
In this particular genre of comedy, I rate it four stars with five stars being Scary Movie 3 and one star being such atrocities as Date Movie which I tried to watch twice and could not bring myself to finish. All the show's signature sight gags are present and accounted for, just in a different setting. Weigel brings a cake to Craig in jail. There is some nudity, which really does little to improve the comedy or advance the story line. The main characters-employees of the special Department, which deals with the most serious cases, all those who have ever come across on the road these police know that they are bad jokes.
