I would go to the parts department at a dealer and let them get a blowup of your engine intake manifold and will be surprised if it is not there. They decided to place a filter screen around the Chevrolet engine oil pressure sensor. At first I thought there was an issue with the oil, as, after a full oil change including filter would put everything back to normal. Willie answered 4 years ago I sort of have the same problem but different. Give or take 10 miles.
Happened about 1000 miles ago, had the oil and filter changed and back to normal. Any help would be appreciated thanks I literally just did this, this weekend on my 04. It is obviously oiling because there is no difference in the sound of the motor from before the problem to now. I tried an engine flush and marvel mystery oil but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. I have noticed that during the time after starting it and driving while its ticking, if I come to a red light I have seen the pressure drop to the warning lvl. These can break loose and find their way into the input port of the replacement pressure sensor.
Did mine while hot and I still have a scare from it and it has been almost 2 years ago! The special socket has an extra thin wall that allows you to get it over the sensor easily. And if I do should I replace with equal or upgrade to different engine. Planning on dropping the pan tomorrow and checking sump, o ring. For almost 35 years now it's been Valvoline. What should I expect next or by changing the pressure sensor fixed my issue, because I was on a date and Bamm all the oil dropped.
I'm going to try the sensor screen next. Not sure I want to make a mess of my hands! What do i do next? Pull the distributor cap and set it aside. Not only did this not fix the problem, it created another. Take it for a test drive and after 15 minutes pressure begins to slowly drop until same alarms come on. And yes I know I got my monies worth out of the old girl but I still feel like we can work things out. With the oil filter gasket lightly touching the filter mounting base, crank the engine over in 20 second intervals to prevent starter from overheating until oil appears at the oil filter gasket, then tighten the filter.
With the amount of money you can save by doing it yourself, you can afford to get a good replacement part, a new screen and the special tool that makes it easier to replace and still save. The next step becomes to disconnect the electrical connector. If the valve sticks in the open position, the oil returns to the suction side of the oil pump, resulting in a low or no oil pressure condition. The replacement oil filter often gets blamed for this encounter when the condition was actually the introduction of air into the system. Here is that sums up the replacement procedure quite nicely.
Chances are, if you own this vehicle long enough, you might get to use the special tool a few more times. My husband the mechanic by trade too has done almost everything but the oil pressure test kit or doing it manually?. Repeat failures of the sensor are common and we'll talk about this in the problems section below. Surprisingly, even this is a fight. Oil Pump Failure Any condition in the oil pump which allows the pressure regulating valve to stick will result in a pressurization problem.
This happen when coming to a stop or during heavy drive times. These are great pics, but could you please help me with a frame of reference, your pics are really zoomed in and I am having trouble finding the general location you are referring to. Turn the blinker on and the alarm goes away until next time. The cleanup involved on both the vehicle and the work area added a few more hours to this disaster. Isnt that like putting a bad part back on after going through the pain of fixing it. Installing a second oil filter often another brand often gets credit for restoring the oil pressure when the actual solution was the release of the trapped air. Most elect to replace the filter screen, as it is a low cost item.
Drove yesterday and no tapping at all. However, the back of it gets hooked on the rear retaining clips, because it doesn't have enough clearance above. I just bought an oil pressure test kit from Harbor Freight and my luck it didn't come with the right size fitting that will screw into where the sending unit mounts. I changed the filter tonight and it improved, but the pressure isn't as high as it should be. And he will be hesitant to let the lube shop service his vehicle in the future, as he has been convinced they created the problem.
Then he decided to replace the throttle body. I had to remove a harness with blue ends in your picture that attaches to the plastic plate after removing the top cover. Sludge and debris can result in some catastrophic engine failures. The first time it happened, I changed my oil filter and did not see the problem for 1700 miles, then it was back. Get a new gasket set and this will make your engine run better too with 100k miles on it.
And it didnt smoke on start up remember the oil in manifold Purr's like a kitten. I have already changed out the oil pressure sensor and new oil pump. I have the 2008 5. Decide to change oil myself. And ideas that you all for your time. They start mass-producing replacement parts and offering them at lower prices.
