As the family move in, Donna searches the basement to find their missing cat Gazmo. But, can the dead return from the grave? Lucas sends Max to the electric machine where his arm gets stuck, Lucas and Donna use the chair to shock Max causing him to appear back in physical form in the house where Lucas shoots him dead. Bonnie goes into the basement and runs outside to find Gazmo in a box the family takes a photo as the screen freezes and fades to black. Lucas eventually makes his way over to the plant and is greeted by his partner who has had both his arms chopped off, probably not the best time for a hug. The next night, Bonnie tells Scott to come with her to look for Vinnie, while Lucas goes to the basement and angrily calls for Max to stay away from his family.
The video quality here is a letdown, at least when compared to other Scream Factory outings, but the audio and the Cunningham commentary and interviews help to at least partially make up for that. Unfortunately for McCarthy, Max has figured out a way to cheat death—kind of. » This scary and rather gory adaptation of Stephen King's great novel features outstanding central performances by Dale Midkiff,Fred Gwynne who sadly died few years ago and Denise Crosby and some really gruesome gore effects. No more he screams and hollers. The plot of the film has some issues but very entertaining overacting from the actors makes it a fun watch. The gore effects used here are actually really good and it does a good job of showing just how relentless and almost unstoppable Jenke is. It turns out that Lucas managed to catch Jenke after he had killed the girl and he is due for execution that day.
I'd be truly surprised if there were many people who even remember The Horror Show, let alone want to own it. Aided by a disreputable college professor, can Lucas reclaim his mind, house, and family? With dreams of a better life, the young doctor, Louis Creed, and his family--his wife, Rachel, their daughter, Ellie, and their three-year-old toddler, Gage--move to their new home in the small rural town of Ludlow, Maine, alarmingly close to a busy highway. Oddly enough, at times The Horror Show feels like some kind of Nightmare On Elm Street rip off. The Horror Show is presented on Blu-ray courtesy of Scream Factory, an imprint of Shout!
