Unfortunatly the reovery partition is esential on this machine so i can not delete it to create more space. Now unfortunately with the latest cumulative update I forget the number , I am getting an error message that I need 8Gb free space. It gets part way through and then complains it doesn't have enough disk space. I noticed that most laptops in the price range only have a 32gb hard drive leaving me to question id this is going to be enough to run Windows and a few programs. Sort them into chronological order, and delete those files from the oldest, up to the last month or two.

For instance, the Anniversary update back in August simply would not run, due to not enough free space on the drive. Just plug one in with enough space, refresh and select the one you want. Now at this point my hardware was recognized for Windows 10 and I can reinstall all I want. I don't expect many programs to be installed and hopefully not to many that require a lot of data.

Definitely enough for windows though sometimes during massive updates you will need to clear space as it needs some space to store the file before updating.
